We have a natural tendency to assume that a remarkable chemistry between two souls is confirmation that they are meant to be together. In the heat of profound feelings, it seems counter-intuitive to imagine ourselves separate from our beloved. But chemistry and longevity are not natural bedfellows. Just because we feel earth-shatteringly alive with someone doesn’t mean they are supposed to be our …life partner. They may have come for a very different reason - to awaken us, to expand us, to shatter us so wide open that we can never close again. Perhaps they were sent from afar to polish the rough diamond of your soul before vanishing into eternity. Perhaps they just came to give you new eyes. Better we surrender our expectations when the beloved comes. (S)he may just be dropping in for a visit.

I’m trying to love people because they exist
and not because of what they can do for me.

If I have to ask for your attention, then I don’t even want it.

A soul mate is not the person
who makes you the happiest, but the one
that makes you feel the most.
Who conducts your heart to bang the loudest,
who can drag you giggling
with forgiveness from the cellar they locked you in.
― Sierra DeMulder, excerpt from “Unrequited Love Poem” (via mashamorevna)
You are beautiful only when you do beautiful things. Full lips aren’t as beautiful as a full laugh. Skinny hips aren’t as beautiful as a quick wit. Think about treating others right, and they will flock to you in screaming droves.

So the universe is not quite as you thought it was.
You’d better rearrange your beliefs, then. Because you certainly can’t rearrange the universe.

I wish somebody had told me that loving people, knowing how to love those people, and those people loving you back were three entirely different things.

I am attracted to the idea
of your lips
exploring my body
as if it were a map
and you kept getting lost
on purpose.

One of the most courageous decisions you will ever make is to finally let go of whatever is hurting your heart and soul.

But how?

I heard once that real love doesn’t ask what is in it for me; it just gives unconditionally. It just tries to take the weight out of somebody else’s pack, lessen his load, and if it gets reciprocated, that’s great, but that isn’t what you did it for.

The way he looks at me, all serious and attentive, was more flattering than any compliment I’d ever had.

Love really is the answer to human problems: love of oneself, love of others, love of where one is, love of what one is doing, love of nature, love of life, love of the world, love of spirit in all its wonder and splendor. Love sets our energy free. It opens us and puts us in a flow with spirit and life on many levels. Love is the true secret behind manifestation.

Be confident. Be compassionate. Be intelligent. Be humble. Be generous. The universe returns to you what you put out.
